Six members of the suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar’s team confessed to their crimes in the Naqeebullah murder case, on Saturday.
The suspects confessed before an anti-terrorism court that they had conducted fake encounters with the SSP Rao Anwar. The Court granted a five-day physical remand to the police of all suspects that included a Sub-Inspector as well.
Sub-Inspector Yasin, ASI Hussain, AllahYar, Head Constable Hayat, Iqbal and Constable Arshad Ali were the team members of Rao Anwar, who is well-known for fake encounters.
On the other side, Supreme Court has also granted a 3-day deadline to Sindh police for arresting Rao Anwar.
Heading a 3-member bench at Karachi Registry, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar reprimanded Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, AD Khawaja for failing to arrest Rao Anwar.
“Mr. IG, where is Rao Anwar? We had ordered his appearance in the court today,” the chief justice asked AD Khawaja.
“Rao Anwar is on the run. We are conducting raids to ensure his arrest,” the IGP said.
The Chief Justice also directed all private plane owners to submit affidavits in two days that Rao Anwar won’t be flown out of Pakistan.
Naqeebullah’s father appeared in the court and requested for a judicial inquiry into his son’s extrajudicial killing. “We only want justice,” he said.
However, the court asked Naqeeb’s father to trust the police and court as it is a criminal case.
The “extrajudicial killing” case of Naqeebullah Mehsud has taken an interesting turn after Rao Anwar’s team members confessed to the crimes. The suspended SSP, also known as “fake encounter specialist” Rao Anwar has gone underground for the last few days.
