Mohmand Agency — Tribal people in Mohmand agency’s Biazai sub-division have been facing a lot difficulties due to no phone or other communication service in the area.
Biazai Sub-Division situated on Pak-Afghan border is a far-flung and backward area with low literacy rate and most of its peoples live in other parts of the country, like Peshawar, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
There was only one PTCL exchange at Atta, which was blasted seven years ago which has been not reconstructed till this time, according to the residents.
Locals told the Tribal Post that they were facing problems to contact their relatives and communicate with rest of the country. “We are completely cut off and don’t know what is happening in the world because we have no communication sources,” tribesmen said.
A local resident Abubakar said that due to the unavailability of Cell phone and landline phones (PTCL) they are using V-phone facilities but its service is not satisfactory.
We have appealed to the locals administration several times to re-establish the destroyed phone exchange but in vain.
The local people demanded of the KP governor and Mohmand political administration to reconstruct the PTCL phone-exchange and also install cell phone services in the area.
