Peshawar — Students of the Government Degree College, Landikotal held a demonstration protesting against the shortage of seats for new admissions in the college, on Wednesday.

Wearing black armbands and holding posters inscribed ‘increase seats for newcomers’, the students marched from the college to Hamza Baba chowk and blocked the road for short time.

A student Izhar Hussain told Tribal Post that more than 500 students have passed the matriculation examination only in Landikotal. However, the college has only 245 seats for newcomers.

The protesting students said that a good number of the students are being deprived of further education due to lack of seats in the college.

Most of the students come from poor families who cannot afford studying in private colleges and taking admissions in colleges outside Khyber Agency.

Student demanded Fata Secretariat and Fata Education authorities to increase number of seats so that they can get admission in the local Government Degree College of Landikotal.
